You can! My partner and I are doing that.

Like you, we put our place on Airbnb when we travel. But even when we are home, we switch from the mode of having a place to yourself to the shared space alternative.

You mention having two bedrooms. Perhaps one of them is a home office. But if it is serving as a guest bedroom, you can have people use it while you are home.

I know that some people see that as being awkward, but I am very used to hosting family, friends, and unknown couchsurfers. Just this morning I accepted an upcoming six-night booking that will net us a bit more than $700 during the coming week.
