We have certainly had very different experiences. I have been there a total of twelve times since 1986, and each of those times has been a minimum of one week; one time it was an entire month.

To address some of your points:

Taxi drivers: I have never taken a taxi in Paris, or anywhere else in Europe, for that matter.

The food: I have eaten in a few restaurants, but mostly I shop for food in supermarkets and outdoor markets so that I can cook for myself wherever I am staying.

Graffiti and street vendors: While you are correct about these, they are also unfortunate features that you will find ALL OVER EUROPE. Yes, very annoying. But certainly not limited to Paris.
