This is great, if one is available. I remember precious few hostels with private rooms. One of them was in Queenstown, New Zealand; the building had previously been a motel, so all the rooms were private and en suite.
I used to love hostels when I was younger. I not only used them all the time, but purchased a lifetime membership in Hosteling International.
As I have aged, though, I continue not to have any interest in luxurious accommodations. Privacy, though, is another matter altogether. It's worth it to me to be able to shut the door and not have to deal with anybody snoring just a matter of inches away from me.
I do love having the kitchen available, as well as the socializing aspect with other hostelers.
