The point I was making is that you are finding offense in a word that is simply a non-emotional description of what it means.

Sure, I guess some words can be "misused," as you put it. Just because you see the word as "discriminatory" and "exclusive" doesn't mean that is what is meant.

In all my travels and experiences with meeting expats in 100+ countries, I have never heard it used to mean or imply anything other than a person from another country living in the country where I was visiting. Your experience must be different, and I respect that.
