There is so much here that is worth thinking and talking about!
One issue that comes to mind is access to clean water for drinking and cooking. I know several people who are involved in making potable drinking water more accessible to entire communities. In fact, it is the main work of several US-based Rotary Clubs, with their work in Guatemala.
They are helping people whose ancestors have been living on their land for centuries. Your writing makes me wonder, Would it be better to have these people figure out the water supply all by themselves, without outside intervention?
I don't know the answer, but you seem to advocate for non-intervention from outsiders because the people who come from other communities, other cultures, other economies don't have the same understanding that the locals have.
That's why I say that there is lots to think and talk about.
