It certainly sounds like you gained a lot of wisdom and useful life lessons from your grandmother.

I am always curious about how that would work with children: sometimes parents and grandparents teach certain values that the young people accept and adopt: "My family did it this way, so I am doing it this way."

And sometimes parents and grandparents teach certain values that the young people reject: "Just because my family did it this way, it doesn't mean that I have to do it the same way."

What are the factors that determine how the young people will behave?

I don't know.
