I was interested in reading this, as I have been an Airbnb host (both home-sharing and the whole place while I am gone) since 2018, and I have stayed in 99 Airbnbs in 33 countries since my first one in 2011.

My only criticism of your complaint has to do with the wording of it. From where I sit, "start a load of laundry," as the host requests, is quite a different story from, "She wants me to do my linens." As I see it, doing your own linens would involve the washing, drying, and replacing them on the bed. Gathering them up, putting them in the washing machine, and pushing the start button is another story altogether.

I am totally with you on the soap and shampoo situation. Soap and shampoo are not that expensive, and they are also a benefit for a visitor not to have to buy. We provide soap, shampoo, conditioner, and free use of a washer and dryer. It's all part of being in the hospitality business.
