I, too, am a retired public school teacher. I am puzzled by anyone thinking that a teacher with tenure could get fired very easily. Perhaps, though, you taught in a private school, in which case, yes, you could get fired if the hiring authorities don't like the color of your socks - and they never even have to tell you that that is why they fired you.
