I think that your analysis is 100% on the money. It's sad that these Republicans do not see their hypocrisy. And many of their followers are simply too uneducated to see that they are being hoodwinked.

I don't know about others folks, but I characterize the Republican problem as being fear of different others, by which I mean fear of other people who have different skin color, different economic standing, different ethnic background, different citizen status, different language, different sexuality, and any other difference that sets them apart from the white middle class WASPs that comprise the major voting bloc of the GOP.
