I first started counting steps in 2014, with the goal of 10,000 steps a day. I have heard about the same research, that 10,000 steps is not really necessary.

Since I am retired and have plenty of time on my hands, I have made the personal decision to take those steps anyway. My app tells me that since I downloaded it 2,785 days ago, I have reached my goal on 2,626 days, or 94% of the time. I have walked a total of 17,984 miles during this time.

One way that I keep the steps going is that when I wait for trains, I never sit at the station. If I have ten minutes until the train comes, I walk on the platform for that time. It helps!

At the age of 74, this is my only exercise, and I plan to continue it for as long as possible. I am happy to be able to continue walking!
