First time I have ever heard of "boiled dinner," but I agree that it sounds gross. I'm a vegetarian, so I would not eat that.

The missing element, to me, is your husband's interceding on your behalf, before the meal was even cooked. That is what spouses/partners do for each other.

For example, just yesterday, my partner was on the phone with one of his sisters, planning a gathering at their mom's place. They were talking about the menu and he said, "Remember, Jay's a vegetarian, so there has to be something there for him to eat." And, as part of his response to something she said, he added, "Yes, he eats cheese."

For me, that's about as specific as it needs to get. But the most important thing for me is having my partner advocate for me, just as your husband should have for you.
