Before I went to Cancun in 2015, I had heard about these fancy hotels. When I was there for four days, I was half expecting that I would see them at some point, but they eluded me until my last full day.

On that day, I happened to take a full-day trip with a tour company to visit Tulum, Cobá, and Playa del Carmen.

As the van was picking up and discharging fellow passengers, that was the time we were at the famous hotel strip, so I finally had a chance to see what it looked like. I was glad that I had planned my time to stay in a local neighborhood instead of any of these hotels.
