About a month or two ago, I returned a package of organic blueberries to Costco. I had eaten about a handful of them; they had a taste that was very definitely off. I got my money back. A few days later, I got a phone call from their central office, with an apology. They told me that they would look out for problems with this brand of blueberries.

In this case, if there is a problem with an item, I would lean towards just throwing them into the compost bin. But I think it's good to let them know if there is a problem with the quality of the items they sell.

I buy a lot of organic produce from Costco. I think they need to know if their items are dependable or not.
